Non-Invasive Spinal Cord Stimulation
The ARC-EX™ System by Onward Medical is a FDA-cleared, non-invasive spinal cord stimulation therapy now available at The Neuro Hub. ARC-EX™ is designed to support individuals with chronic cervical spinal cord injuries by enhancing upper-extremity strength, sensation, and functional use of the arms and hands.

How It Works
ARC-EX™ delivers gentle electrical stimulation through surface electrodes placed on the neck and upper trunk. This stimulation targets the spinal cord, not the muscles, helping re-engage existing neural pathways and support neuroplasticity when paired with skilled, task-specific therapy.
Key Benefits
• Non-invasive – no surgery or implants
• Improved hand and arm function when combined with therapy
• Enhanced sensation and motor control
• Well-tolerated and comfortable during active movement
• Effective even years after injury, based on clinical studies
Beyond Spinal Cord Injury
While ARC-EX™ is currently FDA-cleared for cervical spinal cord injury, emerging research suggests potential benefits for individuals post-stroke as well. Early studies exploring non-invasive cervical spinal cord stimulation in stroke rehabilitation have shown promising effects on upper-extremity motor recovery when combined with intensive therapy. Research in this area is ongoing, and indications may expand as evidence continues to grow.
Who It’s For
ARC-EX™ is indicated for adults with chronic, incomplete cervical spinal cord injuries (C2–C8) and is delivered by trained clinicians as part of a comprehensive neuro-rehabilitation program.
Why The Neuro Hub
At The Neuro Hub, ARC-EX™ is integrated into highly individualized, evidence-based therapy programs. In addition to functional task training, our clinicians bring advanced expertise in upper-extremity biomechanics, allowing us to provide isolated muscle strengthening and targeted neuromuscular re-education to address weakness and reduce muscle imbalances, optimizing movement quality and long-term functional outcomes.
